Central America and South America, Mexico through Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Ecuador.

Color standards:
 Most of the plumage is green with hints of yellow. A bright red stripe is present on the front. The interior of the wings and the tail has a beautiful blue and red- wine color. 

Personality: Very expressive, it has a personality full of energy. It is the smallest of the large macaws and can be a pleasant companion. 

Known health problems: DDA, disorders of the reproductive system, pecking, mutilation, oral and cloaca papillomas. 

Note:
 There are three sub-species, explaining its wide distribution in the wild. 

Reproduction: lays 2 to 3 eggs, incubation period of 26 to 28 days.
