Color standards: The standard color of cockatiels is gray, with the front, the head, crest, cheeks and throat being yellow. The feathers near the ears are orange-red. There are a multitude of mutations available in the cockatiels. For example the color lutino, where the bird is entirely yellow, except the feathers near the ears that are red orange. Also the color cinnamon, the bird will be the same color as the standard, with a lighter gray and a light brown color.
Personality: Little parrot family par excellence, it makes an excellent pet bird. This is a good compromise between a bird and a larger parrot. He tames very easily and can even learn to say a few words and a few songs to whistle. Although it is often called parakeet, the cockatiel is part of the cockatoo family.
Known health problems: liver problems, infections of upper respiratory tract, retention of eggs.
